Finding-My-WayFINDING MY WAY
HOW TO DISCOVER GOD’S WILL
Chris Pyatt

The other day as I was heading down the road, I came upon a car that was stuck. No, he wasn’t caught in a ditch or broken down; he was sitting at a stop sign faced with three options. He could either veer to the right or to the left, or he could choose neither of the two and just stay stopped and forego making any type of decision. I watched as he hurriedly tried to check out the GPS on his phone. He was frantic and confused. The horns blasted behind him from cars eager to get on their way which did nothing to help this frazzled traveler. In his mind he had a destination to get to, the problem was, he didn’t know which road would take him there. As I sat there and watched, and no, I wasn’t one of the drivers behind him trying to encourage him with the horn, I began to think of how perfectly this pictured the situation faced by many Christian teenagers. For the past seventeen or eighteen years, they have traveled down a path paved by their parents. It’s a one way road they have traveled lined with school, chores, church, and the rules of the house. For the most part, they have been oblivious to the major decisions of life that have been made for them by their parents or guardians such as where to live, where to go to church and school, and what kind of job is needed to pay the bills. They have been in a cocooned state inside their parents’ decisions. However, very soon that cocoon will fall off and they will have to fly on their own. They will have to decide where, when, and how to fly.

AT CALVARY

This gospel song of testimony, which is enjoyed by so many and is one of my favorites, would not have been written had it not been for a concerned father and a Bible School official who made an exception to the rules because he felt God wanted him to do so.

I’ll let Dr. R. A. Torrey tell the story as he told it in a Torrey-Alexander meeting in Birmingham, England, in 1905.

"When I was President of the Moody Bible Institute, I received a letter from a very concerned pastor father who told me of a son who was causing himself and his family a great deal of trouble. His life was really mixed up, and the father felt that the only thing that could help would be if his son could be under the daily teaching of the Bible as well as Christian fellowship with other young people. I, at fIrst, advised the father that even though I sympathized with him, for I too was a father, yet, because I was running a Bible school and not a reform school, I had to deny his request. The broken-hearted father contacted me immediately upon receipt of my reply and again pleaded his son's cause. This time I capitulated with the stipulation that the son was to see me each day and that he would make every effort to abide by the rules and requirements of the Institute. If he failed in any of these terms, I would have to ask him to leave.

HOW TO START YOUR DAY OFF RIGHT

Morning can either be stressful or fantastic. You often hear people say that they are not a morning person, but that statement is said because people have a poor morning routines. Psalm 118:24 says, “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Your morning determines the rest of {READ MORE}
