A Church Filled With the Holy Ghost

Acts 2:44

And all that believed were together, and had all things common;

Nothing would change a nation quicker than a whole church being filled with the Holy Ghost. We look for ways to change our cities, but this will never happen without God’s people being filled with the Holy Ghost. We can talk about being filled with the Holy Ghost, but if we are not living holy lives and doing the works of faith needed for the Holy Ghost to fill us, we will never be filled with His power. As we look at this early church, you will notice several things naturally happened when they were filled with the Holy Ghost.

First, God’s people had a fear of God. Verse 43 stated, And fear came upon every soul…. The fear of God always results in doing what is right. Let me illustrate. When you have a fear of electricity, you will work with it as you are supposed to so that you don't get hurt by it. The same is true about having a fear of God; if you fear God, you will live a holy life so you can enjoy His power to do His works instead of experiencing His power through His chastening hand. People who want God’s power should have a fear of God.

Second, unity resulted from the church being filled with the Holy Ghost. You will notice the believers had all things common and that they were in one accord as they did the works of God. Unity in the church is not hard to achieve; unity will follow if all in the church were right with God. You don't strive for unity, but you do right and unity is the result.

Third, a giving heart replaces a materialistic heart when you are filled with the Holy Ghost. When this church was filled with the Holy Ghost, they sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. God is not saying we should all sell everything we have when filled with the Spirit, but He is pointing us to the fact that we will have no problem giving what we have to the church for its needs when we are filled with the Spirit. Any person filled with the Holy Ghost will have no problem giving tithe and offerings; only materialistic believers will have that problem.

Fourth, faithfulness is a result of being filled with the Holy Ghost. These people were steadfastly faithful to the doctrine of God’s Word, attending every service of the church, and to doing what God commanded the believer to do in reaching the lost for Christ. The easiest way to achieve faithfulness is to be filled with the Holy Ghost, but you will never be filled with the Holy Ghost until you start being faithful.

Fifth, a great spirit results from being filled with the Holy Ghost. You never went to this church and had a dead church service; rather, they were praising God with a glad heart. Having a good spirit in the church is easy to have if all believers were filled with the Holy Ghost. You can manufacture a spirit through music, or you can just get filled with the Spirit and see that praising God and glad spirit will be seen in every believer.

Sixth, soul winning and souls saved result from being filled with the Holy Ghost. There is no need for the Holy Ghost to work if you are not going soul winning. It is when you go soul winning that you need the power of the Holy Ghost because souls being saved is a work of the Holy Ghost. My friend, get busy going soul winning, and yield yourself to the Holy Ghost as you go, and you will find He will fill you and use you to see many souls saved.
