Deuteronomy 2:31

And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land.

People who are successful and accomplish great things in life and for God possess certain mindsets that guide their actions and decisions. God shows several mindsets in the book of Deuteronomy that, if followed, will lead to success in whatever one does. The great thing about these mindsets is that anybody can do them. You see, your mindset is something that you choose to be. You choose to think a certain way, and thinking in a certain way will help you to become successful if you think the right way. Let me share five mindsets from the book of Deuteronomy that will help you to become successful.

First, nothing is too hard. Deuteronomy 1:17 says, …ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God's: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it. You must never look at anything that you do as too hard. In other words, never allow excuses to be a part of your life. Excuse-oriented people say something is too hard; whereas, solution-oriented people see opportunities that will lead to success. Nothing should ever cross your mind as too hard; rather, look at everything as an opportunity that will bring you one step closer to success.

Second, I don’t wait until everything is perfect. In the verse above, the LORD said, begin to possess. God was telling them not to wait until everything was perfect, but to step out immediately. If you wait until everything is perfect, you will never do anything at all. Start from where you are, and go as far as you can, because once you get to where you thought you could not go further, you will find there's another step you can always take. Waiting until something is perfect will lead you to do nothing in life.

Third, I will accomplish something toward my goal daily. When the LORD said to begin to possess, He was telling them to possess something every day towards their goal. At the end of every day, you must have accomplished something toward the goal that you are trying to achieve. Success is achieved one day at a time, one task at a time, and one step at a time. Success is the combination of several steps; you will never get to that destination without taking one step at a time.

Fourth, I will not allow fear to control my thinking. Deuteronomy 3:2 says, And the LORD said unto me, Fear him not…. If you are afraid of failure, you will certainly do nothing in life. Fear can never control your thinking when it comes to attempting something. If you are afraid of making mistakes, you will never achieve anything in life. Every successful person has made mistakes and failed, but they got up from their mistakes, learned from them, and then did something great. You will never achieve success until you put fear aside and decide to live a faith-filled life, a life that is challenged to move forward no matter what you face.

Fifth, I have what is capable to succeed. Deuteronomy 2:36 says, there was not one city too strong for us… God has given you what you need to succeed, and whatever you don't have, He will provide it to you when you reach that step. Success is the mindset that I can with what I have; it is having a winner’s mindset and not a loser’s mindset. Look at what you have and say you can win with what you have, and you will find you will succeed at what you do.
