God Wants

Romans 12:1

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

A God who has the power to do anything begs you to give Him what He truly wants: you. Imagine the God who made the universe and the world not having something He truly wants. You would think if God has all the riches in the world, all the power to do anything that He wants, and all the knowledge and wisdom to know how to do anything, would have everything that He wants.

However, the text shows us that God does not have everything He wants. When God created man, He gave him free choice to choose God. God only has the individual who chooses to give Him what He wants. Romans 12:1-2 shows that you have several things that God wants. Let me share the four things you have that God wants.

First, God wants your body. Notice that God wants the believer to present their bodies as a living sacrifice to Him. God wants you to give your body to Him instead of to the world. It is sadly amazing how so many believers are more interested in giving their bodies to a world that wants to use it to further its sinful and evil lifestyles when they have a God that wants to use their bodies to further His cause, which only leads to His blessings on their lives. Your body is not yours in the first place; it belongs to God. All God is asking is for you to give back to Him what is rightfully His in the first place.

Second, God wants your mind. In verse 2, God talks about renewing your mind. God knows that if you give your mind to Him, that He will have your love. God wants to be in your thoughts. He wants your mind to think about Him throughout the day. Why would God want you to think about Him? Because He loves you and knows that if you love Him, you will think about Him throughout your day. You always think about whoever and whatever you love; therefore, God wants your mind because He wants your love.

Third, God wants your will. God wants your will because He wants to exchange it with His will. In other words, God wants you to burn your plans and dreams for your life so that you can live in the purpose for which He created you to do. It is not unreasonable for God to want your will. If God has your will, He will have your future. You can have no greater plans than to live for God and in His purpose for which He created you.

Fourth, God wants your life. Why is it so difficult to give your life to God, when all He wants to do is help you to find fulfillment in life, His blessings, and life filled with purpose? You can live your life the way you want to live, but you will never find the true fulfillment in life that you so desire. God wants your life so that He can show His power through it.

Have you given God these four things? The God Who knows everything, has the power to do anything, and owns the wealth to have anything cannot have one thing unless you give it to Him: your life. You have the opportunity to give something to God that He cannot have unless you give it to Him, your body, mind, will, and life. If you will give God these things, you will find that He will bless your life far beyond anything that you could have imagined. Burn your dreams and give yourself to God; it is the best investment to live your life as a living sacrifice for God.
