Romans 1:8

First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.

The faith these people had made history. They never knew their faith would not only be spoken of throughout the whole world, but also throughout history. We look back today at a church that had great faith, such a great faith that God chose to mention it in the book of Romans.

People are often looking to make history, but they often miss making history because they attempt it through worldly methods. You will only make history by doing something that will change an eternity. Every believer ought to desire to have a history-making faith. Let’s look at what history-making faith is.

First, history-making faith starts with salvation. You cannot make history with your faith if it is not placed in Jesus Christ. Only a faith settled in Christ’s sacrificial payment for one’s sins can make an impact on eternity. There has never been one person who made history in a positive manner that has not placed their faith in Christ. Oh, there is Judas Iscariot, Felix, and Agrippa who made history, but their history was they rejected faith in Christ and are today burning in Hell. If you want history-making faith, you must accept Christ as your Saviour.

Second, history-making faith is knowing what you believe and never changing. Paul said in 2 Timothy 1:12, …for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. Paul settled what he believed and never revisited it. You must settle what you believe from God’s Word and never revisit that decision to have history-making faith. If you waffle in your faith, your faith will never make the impact it could have made had you settled it once and for all.

Third, history-making faith is having prayers of faith that are spoken of throughout the world. Your prayer life should be one that people know you can get your prayers answered. Prayers of faith are the only prayers that make history. I think of the church that prayed for Peter’s deliverance from jail; that was a history-making prayer. There is Elijah who stopped the rain through prayer and by faith prayed again for it to rain, and God answered both times. Every believer should have prayer lives that make history through great answers of prayers. If your prayers don't take faith, no prayer truly being prayed. Prayer by nature takes faith; therefore, you ought to have prayers of faith that need God’s intervention, for it is the prayer of faith that makes history.

Fourth, history-making faith is having actions of faith that are spoken of throughout the world. Something ought to challenge you to do something so big by faith that it will be spoken of years after you are gone to Heaven. Sadly, most believers will be forgotten after they die because they never did anything of faith that is worthy of being remembered. My friend, every generation needs someone with history-making faith who attempts great things for God and does those great things for God.

Do you have history-making faith? You may think it is not critical for you to have this type of faith, but someone is following you who needs to see God is real. Stop letting fear run your life and do something great by faith through your prayers and actions, and your life will be spoken of throughout history.
