Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Believers often talk about how they want to please God, but pleasing God is not that difficult; live by faith. You can try to please God in many other ways, but faith is the only way to please God. Some think worshipping God in church is what pleases Him, but God makes it clear that faith is what it takes to please Him. Anything done without faith, no matter how spiritual it may seem, will not please God. God’s Word makes it clear that it is impossible to please God without faith.
Therefore, faith is the only ingredient needed to please God. However, there are several ingredients that faith has for a person to live by faith. The ingredients of faith are what it takes for a believer to please God by faith. Let me share the ingredients of faith so that you can have the ingredients of faith to please God.
First, faith requires vision. Vision is the ability to see what God sees, and it produces a desire to see it done. Noah was warned of God of things not seen as yet. You cannot live by faith without having a vision of what has yet to be done. If the believer wants to please God, they must get God’s vision of the impossible to start the process of faith.
Second, faith requires trust in God. One reason it pleases God for a believer to live by faith is because it means the believer is trusting Him. To live your life without trusting God is to live a life without faith. It takes trust in God to place your faith in God to be saved, and it takes trust in God to live your Christian life by faith. If what you do for God does not take total trust in God for it to be done means that you are not living by faith. Trust is critical is because faith requires you to do the impossible; therefore, trusting that God will help you is critical to live by faith.
Third, faith brings fear. Fear always shows up when faith is present, and that is why you must trust God to make a faith vision become a reality. If what you are doing for God does not scare you, I seriously doubt that you are living by faith. Every time I step out by faith, fear is present to tell me I am crazy. However, it is crazy to trust fear instead of faith because fear only destroys, whereas faith always accomplishes the impossible. You may be scared to step out by faith, but everyone who stepped out by faith had to squelch the voice of fear to take the risk to step out by faith and trust God.
Fourth, faith requires obedience. God always gives you a faith vision; therefore, you must obey if you are to live by faith and please God. You cannot partially obey God and still live by faith because faith requires total obedience. There is no such thing as partial obedience to God’s vision of faith and living by faith. Faith requires complete obedience to God’s vision for you and how to accomplish that vision.
Fifth, faith requires action. You cannot live by faith without acting on faith. Action is stepping out by faith. You can say you have faith, but without action to trust God to step out by faith, you truly have no faith. If you want to please God with your life, action will always be seen. You may not know how the need will be supplied when you step out by faith, but that is why it is faith, and that is why it pleases God, because you are totally trusting Him to be there at the moment you step out by faith.
