Exodus 36:1

Then wrought Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whom the LORD put wisdom and understanding to know how to work all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary, according to all that the LORD had commanded.

The work of the Lord is a great work that needs many people to accomplish the task of getting the Gospel out to their city and around the world. The comparison between the building of the tabernacle in the wilderness and the building of the Lord’s work is similar in needs. One thing you will notice is there is all manner of work for the service. In other words, everyone was needed to do the work so the work could be done. One person cannot do all the manner of work needed in the building of a church, it takes all the people to be involved to accomplish the work successfully and quickly. Let me share several ingredients needed for building the Lord’s work.

First, you need people with a heart to work. God told Moses to take those who had a willing heart. In most churches, only a few people have a heart to work. Oh, they have a heart to enjoy the services, but God needs people who have a heart to work for Him. Your heart is placed in something, but the difference between placing it in the Lord’s work and the material things of the world is that the Lord’s work gives eternal rewards. Nobody can make you put your heart into the Lord’s work but you, so put your heart into the work.

Second, you need people with wisdom to work. The LORD put wisdom into the heart of those who were involved in this great task to build the tabernacle. If all of God’s people had God’s wisdom to do the work of the Lord, the work of the Lord would thrive without much human error. The lack of wisdom in church work hinders God’s work. God promises to give you wisdom to do His work; you need to ask Him for His wisdom to do His work correctly.

Third, you need people who are willing to work. The willingness of these people to work made the work much easier to do. The need to build a great work is not because of a lack of people, but because of a lack of people who are willing to work. Every Pastor works with willing people, but he cannot make them willing. You are the one to choose to be willing to work. You could really help your church reach greater heights for God if you would be willing to work.

Fourth, the work needs finances to build. The work of God cannot be done without money. If everyone obeyed God in the area of tithing, there would be plenty of finances to build the Lord’s work. God gave this work sufficient finances to get the work done because all the people were willing to give. You could relieve the financial pressure on your Pastor by being a willing giver who obeys God’s command to give tithes and offerings.

Fifth, you need God’s power to work. God filled these laymen with His power to do His work. God not only requires the Pastor to be filled with His power, but He also requires every believer to be filled with His power. The filling of the Holy Spirit is not to show your spirituality, but to do the work of God so He receives the glory. You will never need God’s power if you are not doing God’s work. Get busy doing God’s work and pray for His power, and He will give His power to you to do the great work by faith.
