Renewed Day by Day

2 Corinthians 4:16

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

One of the great challenges of any believer is to stay on top side every day. Every day has challenges and obstacles that try to knock us down, and if we are not careful, we will allow yesterday's problems to affect today’s disposition and drive. One reason God tells us to be renewed day by day is because renewing the inward man daily is the only hope of serving God successfully today. If I do not get today renewed, I cannot be for God what He needs me to be to help others and complete today’s challenges for Him. Therefore, I must renew the inward man daily. Let me share several things you must do to renew the inward man.

First, remember that you cannot live on yesterday's nourishment. What I got from God's Word yesterday is not good for today. Therefore, I must always spend time in God's Word daily if I am to get the nourishment I need for today. It is no wonder that many believers struggle in their walk with God because the only nourishment they get is on Sunday, and only on Sunday morning, because that is the only service many attend. My friend, God has given us His Word so we can find nourishment to make it through each day. Spend time in God's Word and walk with Him in prayer, and you will find that God will renew you inwardly day by day.

Second, remember you cannot live on yesterday's successes or in yesterday's failures. Yesterday’s successes do not guarantee success today. Too many live on yesterday’s success, thinking that they will be successful today, and then they find great failure. Likewise, many live in yesterday's failures and live a defeated life. What happened yesterday is done, and we will only find success today by moving on from yesterday. If you face today with a renewed vigor to overcome any obstacles, you can find the power to succeed in your daily walk with God.

Third, you must realize you need something today. One of the great challenges every believer should accept is to wake up early every morning to spend time with God so they get the nourishment they need for today. If all we did was eat one meal every week, we would soon become weak and sickly in our spiritual lives. Just like you physically cannot live on one meal a week, likewise, you cannot succeed spiritually by being nourished only once a week. You need to be nourished today because today holds its own challenges, and only God knows how to nourish you to face those challenges.

Fourth, what God gives me today is good for today. Trust God that what He gives you in His Word and in prayer will be enough for you to face today's challenges. I have learned in life that many times God gives me early in the morning the nourishment I need for something I will face today. Now what you get today will not be good tomorrow. You must not worry about what you will need tomorrow; you just need to get the nourishment for today that God has for you.

My friend, those who live the victorious Christian life are those who get spiritual nourishment from God's Word and walk with Him daily. You will find by spending much time in God's Word and walking with Him in prayer daily that God will renew you inwardly, and will give you the strength you need for today. Let me challenge you not to live on the stale nourishment of yesterday, but get something new from God today, and you will live the victorious Christian life.
