Revelation 1:14
His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
It is often said that the eyes are the gateway to the soul. If this is true, we ought to look into the eyes of the LORD to see what He is like. Throughout the Scriptures, we find that the LORD’s eyes are described in different manners, and each way they are portrayed has a meaning to the believer’s life. Let’s look at the eyes of the LORD and what they mean to your life.
First, the eyes of the LORD are as a flame of fire. This is talking about the LORD’s ability to see through everything. God knows when we are being true and when we are trying to cover our true intentions and actions. You may be able to fool people, but you will never be able to fool God. He knows your true intentions and your heart. You might succeed in manipulating others to believe you are something different from what you truly are, but God’s eyes see your true heart’s intentions and direction. He shows this in Jeremiah 20:12 when He says, But, O LORD of hosts, that triest the righteous, and seest the reins and the heart,…. The reins show your direction in life, and your heart shows your true intentions. God’s eyes are capable of seeing the true direction of the heart. You can attempt to act spiritual and fool others, but the eyes of the LORD are a flame of fire that burns through your facade and sees your true heart’s motives and intentions.
Second, the eyes of the LORD are upon them that fear Him (Psalm 33:18). The same eyes that see your true intentions also watch over you daily. There is never a time when the LORD does not see what is happening in your life. You can be thankful there is nothing that happens in your life that catches God off guard because His eyes are upon you if you fear Him. You are safe as long as you keep a fear of the LORD.
Third, the eyes of the LORD see the good you do. Psalm 34:15 says, The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. There are times when you may think nobody sees what you are doing, but there is no good you can do that God cannot see. Every little thing you do that seems to go unnoticed by others is seen by God. You may think you are wasting your time trying to do good, but you can be assured that He sees the good you are doing and it causes Him to have His ear open to your prayers. If there is ever a reason to do good, it ought to be so He can see your good and hear your prayers.
Fourth, the eyes of the LORD are looking to use you. 2 Chronicles 16:9 says, For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars. The same eyes that see through everything and that watches over your life and sees the good you do, also are looking to use you if you will let Him. Let me remind you that Romans 12:1 says, I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. My friend, the omniscient and omnipotent God wants to use you. He is looking for someone that will present themselves to Him and ask Him to use them. Isaiah understood this truth and said, Here am I, send me. I challenge you to ask God to send you daily to do His tasks He wants done, for He is looking daily for someone to use.
