The Power of Christ’s Presence

John 11:37

And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?

When Jesus came to the grave where Lazarus had been laid, the people weeping at the grave understood that the power of Christ’s presence could have kept Lazarus from dying. They had perceived that nobody died in Christ’s presence. They asked, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died? They knew that those who were sick in Christ’s presence were healed and that, had Christ been present when Lazarus was sick, he would have been healed.

The power of Christ’s presence is that wherever Christ is and whoever He touches, the place is never the same, and the person is always changed. It was the impotent man that laid at the pool of Bethesda for thirty-eight years who had his life changed at the presence of Christ. It was the blind man begging on the roadside that had his eyes healed and life changed at the presence of Christ. It was a cheating and stealing Zacchaeus whose life was eternally changed at the presence of Christ. It was those who were possessed by devils that had their lives changed at the presence of Christ.

If Christ’s presence in these many instances, and many other instances not mentioned, changed the lives and situations that people faced, He can certainly change your life and situation if you will let Him. Please understand that Christ’s presence can change the status quo, but He will not force His power on any person. We must remember that He could not do many mighty works in His hometown because of their unbelief. There were two thieves crucified with Christ that had the opportunity to be saved and have their lives changed. However, only one life was changed because He allowed Christ’s power and presence to change Him because He trusted in Christ.

Christian, you that you have the power of Christ’s presence dwelling in you. This means that no matter what situation in life you face today, His presence can change your situation. The power of Christ’s presence in a marriage can change a broken marriage into a happy marriage. The power of Christ’s presence in a home can change a dysfunctional home into a blessed home. The power of Christ’s presence in a church can change a struggling church into a thriving church that is reaching the lost for Christ.

It all comes down to, what will you do with Christ? Pilate asked in Matthew 27:22, Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? Sadly, these people never had their lives changed because they wanted Him crucified. Judas Iscariot had the opportunity to have his life changed and eternity settled in Heaven, but he kissed the cheek of Christ and still went to Hell. The reason Judas was not changed was because He did not let the power of Christ’s presence change his life.

Are you struggling with temptation? Let the power of Christ’s presence give you victory over your temptation. Are you struggling with problems in life? Let the power of Christ’s presence change the status quo of your life. Are you struggling in your church or ministry? Let me challenge you to let the power of Christ’s presence transform your ministry from a struggling one to a thriving one by yielding to His power as you do His work.
