The Seal of God

Revelation 9:4

And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.

The seal of God in the foreheads of those who were saved in the tribulation is critical for every believer to understand what God’s seal on our lives means today. Ephesians 4:30 says, And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. When you got saved, the Holy Spirit became your seal just like those in the tribulation were sealed by God. Now understand, this seal was given by God in your life, which brings several meanings to your life.

First, the seal of God means you are protected. This seal of God kept these people from going through hurts that only the lost will endure. God protects His own. When the noise of the world around you is deafening and attempting to hurt you, you are secure in God.

Second, the seal of God means you belong to God. The seal God gave is what differentiated His children from the rest of the world. The seal showed who they belonged to. 1 Corinthians 7:23 reminds the believer, Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men. The seal of God on your life is a reminder that you are royalty, and you should live like it. You belong to God, and you must never forget that because you are His, you should live like it.

Third, the seal of God means your salvation is secure. You will notice that God’s seal for the believer is good until the day of redemption. The seal of God can only be broken by God, and He has given His Word that you are sealed until the day that He takes you to Heaven. The fallacy that you can lose your salvation is lunacy. If the believer can lose their salvation, then God is a liar because He promised that we are sealed until the day of redemption. He did not say we are sealed until the day we sin or send back our day of grace, but we are sealed until our redemption date, and that day is when He raptures the believer to Heaven.

Fourth, the seal of God means you are changed. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. You are to live a changed life. The changed life means you are to live like you belong to God and not that you are still the world’s. It is sad that God saved you and changed you to be like Him, and yet so many try to live their lives like they still belong to the world. The seal of God on your life should cause you to want to be like the God who has secured your salvation until the day of redemption.

Fifth, the seal of God means you are set apart for Him. God sealed you to let all know that you belong to Him. Therefore, He set your life apart to be used for His glory and work. It is the least thing that you can do to live your life for the God who saved you and set you apart for His service.

Sixth, the seal of God means you are empowered. He sealed you with His Holy Spirit, and it is the Holy Spirit who empowers the believer to do the works of God. You have a power within that can help you to do God’s great and mighty works, but you must yield to the Holy Spirit for this power to work through you. Yield yourself to the Holy Spirit, and you will find He will give you power to do great and mighty works that you could never have imagined to be done in your life.
