1 Corinthians 2:15

But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

We often hear the statement that we are judge no man; however, that is not a true statement. There is one person we are to judge, and that person is ourselves. The verse above says, But he that is spiritual judgeth of all things… In other words, it is spiritual to judge. In order to understand what is spiritual to judge, we must look at the word before the word judgeth.. God says, he that is spiritual. The word spiritual means, of the Spirit. In other words, he that is of the Holy Spirit judgeth of all things. This verse is talking about the importance of letting the Holy Spirit control you.

There is another great key to this verse. God says, he that is spiritual judgeth all things. The spiritual person is spiritual because they judge all things; they judge whether every decision is of the Spirit. Judging all things is what keeps the spiritual person spiritual. It is the day that I don't judge all things that I stop being spiritual. The day when I stop judging all things is the day that I become careless with my decisions. The day I become careless with my decisions is the day that I will allow a wrong decision to be made, which will result in sin. If we are going to stay spiritual, we must be a people who judge all things. Let me share a few thoughts about the importance of being a judge of all things.

First, there is no unimportant decision. One of the biggest mistakes we can make in our lives is to treat some decisions more importantly than others. My friend, there is no unimportant decision to make. Every decision you make will determine your future. You must judge of all things because you don't want to do something that would make a wrong decision that would cause detriment to your future and to the cause of Christ.

Second, you must look at every decision and ask yourself if this is what the Holy Spirit would want you to do. Imagine the difference in our decisions if we allowed the Holy Spirit to control each one. Imagine how much more we would be able to avoid the heartache if we allowed the Holy Spirit to dictate our decisions. For instance, would the Holy Spirit want me to hit the snooze button when the alarm goes off, or would the Holy Spirit want me to get up when it goes off? Would the Holy Spirit want me to miss church when I have a headache, or would He want me to go to church despite the headache so that I can obey the command of the Scriptures? Would the Holy Spirit want me to withhold my tithes because I supposedly cannot afford it, or would He want me to trust God and pay my tithes so that I can be obedient to the Word of God? With every decision that you make, you must ask yourself what the Holy Spirit would want you to do. This action would keep you from making many bad decisions.

Third, judging all decisions is what will give you a good testimony for God. Notice the result of judging all things is: yet he himself is judged of no man. When you become a person who judges every decision you make, you will build a great testimony among the people around you. You will become known as a person of good decisions if you are a judge of all decisions.

Let me encourage you to become a judge today, a judge in every decision you make based on what the Holy Spirit would want you to do. If you will do this, you will find that many tragic decisions will be avoided.
