John 1:4

In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

The answer to any need you find in life is answered in Jesus Christ. Jesus is more than just a man who died on the cross. John says about Jesus, In him was, and from this point forward, John spends the rest of this book describing what Christ is to anyone who allows Him to be for them what they need. Let me share just a few things I see about Christ in the book of John.

First, in Christ is eternal life. John 1:12 says that if we receive Christ, we have eternal life. I could start in many other places, but only in Christ is found eternal life. According to God’s Word, we are dead in our trespasses and sins, but we find eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. You can try to find eternal life in other places, but in Christ IS eternal life. You can seek eternal life through the church, good works, baptism, and your own merits, and you will fail; however, you can have eternal life through Christ if you will just ask Him.

Second, in Christ is the Word of life. John 1:1 declares, In the beginning was the Word. If you are seeking words to help you in life, seek no further than Jesus Christ. Christ is the Word who can guide us through life, and if we follow His Word, we will find fulfillment in life. His Word has never failed one time, and if followed, it will lead us to His blessings in our life.

Third, in Christ is abundant life. Jesus says in John 10:10, I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. The abundant life is a joy-filled life. You will never find joy without Christ. If you want your life to overflow with joy, accept the life that Christ commands us to live, because in it you will find life more abundantly.

Fourth, in Christ is the overcoming life. Jesus says in John 16:33, …In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. In Christ, you have the power to overcome any sin, trial, or temptation. You don't have to live a defeated life, because Christ promises the overcoming life if you will live your life for Him.

Fifth, in Christ is the way of life. Jesus declares in John 14:6, I am the way. Are you trying to find your way through life? Jesus is the way! You will always end up in the right destination if you choose to follow Christ. He will never lead you wrong for He IS the way, and His way always leads to His fullest blessings for your life.

Sixth, in Christ is the quickening life. Jesus promises in John 5:21, For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. Jesus can take whatever sin has destroyed and make it new again. Jesus has the power to turn the death that sin cause into life. You may have gotten yourself in a mess, but Christ is the one who gives you a new outlook on life because He turns what is dead to life again.

Seventh, in Christ is the power-filled life. Jesus says in John 1:12, But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: You will find power to accomplish anything you put your mind to if you choose to do it in Christ’s power. Christ has the power to allow you to do the miraculous. Stop living the powerless life and realize through Christ you have the power to live the miraculous life. If you want to enjoy the miraculous, then live your life through Christ.
