Isaiah 26:3-4

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

The greatest battle of the ages has been between the LORD and Satan vying for the trust of every individual. Satan's method of trying to get man to trust him is to get him to trust anything but God. Satan would love for you to trust your own abilities, the money you make, the influence you have, or the government of the country in which you live. Satan does not care which one you trust as long as you don't trust the LORD. However, God not only wants your trust, but He demands your trust. Throughout the Scriptures, you will find that the believer is commanded to trust the LORD. God has never asked you to trust Him, but He commands you to trust Him. Therefore, not to trust the LORD is to disobey God and His Word. Let me share several values that we gain by trusting the LORD.

First, you find perfect peace by trusting the LORD. The verse above says, Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. The peace that you will find in your life because you trust the LORD will pass all understanding. People will never understand how you can have such peace in tumultuous times, but we know that our peace has come from trusting the LORD. It matters not how vicious the storms of life are around you; when you are trusting the LORD, your trust will always deliver perfect peace.

Second, you discover the strength to continue by trusting in the LORD. Notice the verse above says, Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength. Trusting in the LORD takes the worry away, which results in finding the strength to continue. You can always be assured that God will always help you in your time of need; therefore, there is no need to worry, but there is a need to trust. By placing your trust in the Lord, you take worry away, the tool Satan uses to waste mental energies and to steal your strength to continue.

Third, you will find direction in your life when you place your trust in the LORD. Proverbs 3:5-6 promises the believer that the LORD will direct your paths if you will trust in Him. The value of trusting in God is that He will show you the next step to take when you don't know where to go in life. Stop worrying about the next step and trust God; He has promised that He will direct your paths if you will trust Him.

Fourth, you find joy in sorrow when you place your trust in the LORD. Isaiah 12:2 teaches us that the LORD gives us a song when we trust Him. Many don't understand how we can have a song in heartache, but when you trust in the LORD, He gives a song that brings joy to your life. You will only find that song of joy by trusting Christ alone.

Fifth, you discover that God never faileth when you trust in the LORD. Zephaniah 3:5 reminds us that God never faileth. God has never failed one person who has trusted Him in their time of need. He never fails to have the strength to help you. He never fails to have the wisdom to guide you. He never fails in showing up in your time of need. He never fails to give you the peace that passes all understanding. Trust the LORD, my friend, you will find that He will never fail you. The storms around you may be great, but you will find that the LORD is greater than any storm when you trust Him.
