Job 14:14
If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.
Job’s outlook on life was tremendous despite the trials he endured. He said, all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come. What change was Job looking for? He was looking for the change of when his trials would be past. He was looking for the change that happens when a believer dies and goes to Heaven. Job understood that when we die, we will live again. He never lost the hope of Heaven. However, Job said that He would wait until that day comes.
What change are you looking for in your life? I find there are three changes we look for. The first change is the change to overcome sin. Many look for their life to change, but they don't wait until the change comes, resulting in their sin getting the best of them. We all have sin in our lives, but we cannot sit and do nothing until our change comes. The answer to this change is to wait until our change comes.
The second change we look for is for our trials to be over. Many go through huge trials, and there is no doubt that we want those trials to end. However, you cannot sit and do nothing while you go through trials because your trials will then destroy you. The answer to coming through your trials victoriously is to wait until your change comes.
The third change is when God takes us to Heaven. This will come either through death or the rapture. However, until this day comes, the believer should wait until the day comes. Our lives will be wasted if we don't wait until the day God takes us to Heaven.
What does it mean to wait? To wait means four things. First, to wait means to be patient until our change comes. Too many are impatient about their change and jump to something else that will not help them. You have to be patient for the day of your change. God knows what He is doing in your life, and you must be patient with God’s process of refining if you want His ultimate goal to be performed in your life.
Second, to wait means not to quit. Quitting is never the answer! Quitting never resolves your problems; it just adds the regret of what could have been to them. Your answer is to wait until the change comes. Throw quitting out the window and never consider it, as it only keeps you from becoming what God wants you to be.
Third, to wait means to anticipate the change. In other words, look to what God is doing through your life to give you hope. To anticipate is to hope. Satan will do everything to take your hope from you, but you must never lose hope that the day of change WILL come.
Fourth, to wait means to serve. This is the key to this whole verse. Serve God until the change comes. The best way to make the most out of what you are going through is by serving God. Serving God is what gives hope and keeps you from quitting. Serving God is what keeps you busy so that you can be patient with what God is doing through your life. Sitting until the change comes has never bettered anyone’s life, but serving until the change comes takes whatever that person is going through and turns it into God’s tool to make all things work together for good. Serving God is your answer to overcoming sin and trials, and making the most of your life until God takes you to Heaven.
