Deuteronomy 4:29
But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
A great promise God gives to the believer is found when He says that He can be found in the believer who does four things. These four things that God wants from the believer is something any person can do. Whether you are educated or uneducated, whether you are rich or poor, whether you are healthy or unhealthy, whether you live on the rich side of town or the poor side of town; God makes it possible to be found by all.
When we consider what we have to do to find God, it is not something that is real difficult. God so longs to be involved in the believers life that He makes it possible for anyone. Finding God in your life is a choice. However, God wants to know that you want Him before He invests Himself in your life. Don't get me wrong, God is in every believers life, but he works more in the life of the one who will do these four things. Let me share these things you must do that God wants from you so He can be found in your life.
First, God wants your desire. The Scriptures say, if thou seek him. God wants you to desire Him. He wants to know that He is not a spare tire in your life. Too many only want God as a checkbox to check on the weekends when God wants to be a part of all of your life. It is not much of a relationship with God if the only time you spend with Him is on Sunday morning. God wants your desire, and He will be found by those who have the desire to seek Him.
Second, God wants your heart. The Scriptures continue to say, if thou seek him with all thy heart. God cannot have your heart if He does not have your desire. God wants your heart because He wants you to be totally invested in Him. The person who is not willing to invest their heart in God is the person who truly does not want God. Matthew 6:21 says, For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. When your heart is invested in God, He will be the greatest treasure of your life. When God is the greatest treasure of your life, there will be nothing of more value to you than God.
Third, God wants your soul. The soul is the personification of who you are. In other words, God wants you to be so closely identified with Him that everyone sees Christ in you. It was said about Peter that even his speech sounded like Christ. It was said about the disciples that the world could see that they had been with Jesus. Why was this said about Christ’s disciples? It was said about them because they were not afraid to be identified with Him. They were willing to live a separated life to be identified with God. When Christ has your soul, you will not squabble about standards because you will do anything that will make you look like Christ. If men having short hair identifies you with Christ, that is not an obstacle. If ladies wearing a dress identifies you with Christ, there will be no fight. Those who seek Christ with all their soul will have no issue separating from the world to be identified with Christ.
Fourth, God wants your all. The Scripture wanted all and not part of the soul and heart. Whatever you withhold from God shows how much He has of you. To give God your all is only right because He owns it all. God wants your all; He wants your altogetherness, your effort, your possessions; He wants your all. Does He have your all?
