Genesis 1:1

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

One of the great statements in the Scriptures is, In the beginning God. Once God is introduced into one's life, we see that He is very involved in their lives. God was introduced at the beginning of creation, and after this statement, we see several attributes of God that show how involved God is in our lives and in what we do. Let me show several things that reveal God's attributes and how they affect your life today.

First, God created in verse 1. God still creates life today. Life does not happen without God. This is a great reminder that if God created your life, God has a purpose for it. To think that God would think of you to create you and to give you life should make you feel indebted to a God who gave you the opportunity to live, and it should motivate you to fulfill the purpose for which He created you. Without God, you would not exist; therefore, let the fact that God created your life stir you to find that purpose and do that for which He put you on this earth to do.

Second, God saw in verse 4. God still sees what is going on in your life. Whether it is good or bad, God sees what is happening. There are many times in your life you wonder if anybody really knows what you are going through, but the fact that God saw at the beginning of creation means that He still sees what is going on in the lives of those whom He created. The fact that God sees means that He cares. My friend, you may feel like no one truly cares about you, but the fact that God sees what is going on in your life means that He is very interested in your life and in helping you to fulfill the purpose for which He created you.

Third, God called in verse 5. God still calls people today. The lack of preachers in our day is not because God has stopped calling; rather, it is because people have stopped answering the call. God calls everyone for a purpose, and His call is the purpose for which He created you and placed you on this earth to do. Not to answer the call of God is to refuse to do the purpose for which you were created to do.

Fourth, God made in verse 7. God still makes things happen in your life for His purpose. I am reminded of Romans 8:28 which says, And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. God has a purpose for everything that He makes to happen in your life. We may not understand what that purpose is, but we must understand that if God sees a purpose for making something to happen in our lives, then we must learn to trust God that He knows what He is doing. Stop complaining about what God has placed in your life, and instead be thankful that God is involved in your life.

Fifth, God blesses in verse 22. God's blessing on your life is not to use those blessings to serve yourself, but to serve Him. Never allow the blessings that God has put into your life to pull your attention away from God. Oh, how many people have allowed the blessings of God to pull their attention away from God to their own detriment. Remember that God's blessings are given so that you can serve Him more efficiently and to help others better.

My friend, God's attributes are still relevant today for your life. Every attribute of God is to be a help to the believer to do what He created the believer to do. Fulfill God’s purpose, and every attribute of God will be a great benefit to you in fulfilling that purpose.
