Isaiah 38:2
Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD,
Hezekiah’s response to crisis was always to present his situation to the LORD. When Sennacherib sent his servants to discourage God’s people before he tried to invade the land of Judah, Hezekiah found the answer to his problem was to pray. When Isaiah came and told Hezekiah that he was about to die, instead of whining or complaining about it, he turned his face to the wall and prayed. It was this response to crisis that allowed God to use Hezekiah in a great way.
Your response to crisis determines what God does with your life. If your response to crisis is to run and hide, you will find that crisis will be the source Satan uses to stop everything you try to do for God. If your response to crisis is to complain and try to get people to feel sorry for you, crisis will be the tool Satan uses to keep you from attempting feats of faith.
The best response to any crisis is always to pray. Prayer is the only hope of a crisis being turned from tragedy into triumph. Prayer is the tool that helps the one in crisis to get the Master of all crises to respond and turn their crisis into triumph. Hezekiah learned the invaluable lesson that all believers need to learn and that is the best response to any crisis is to pray. Let me share the benefits of turning to God in your time of crisis.
First, turning to God in crisis keeps you from running and hiding. Many like to hide when crises come, but that never stops the crisis. Turning to prayer in times of crisis is the best way to face your crisis, and the only way you can turn a crisis into victory. You can hide from your crisis, but that never resolves it. Many a person has run from their crisis and turned that action into a bad habit that keeps them from seeing God performing the miraculous for the rest of their lives.
Second, turning to God in prayer during crisis keeps you from complaining and ruining God’s testimony and yours. When the believer whines publicly about their problems, they are publicly saying God is not powerful enough to handle their problems. Turning to social media to complain has never resolved one crisis in anyone’s life, but turning to God in crisis has given all who turned to God the answer on how to handle their crisis. You can complain to look for sympathy, but that will not help or resolve your crisis one bit.
My friend, prayer is always the answer to any crisis. Prayer is the way that makes you face your problems head on. Prayer is when God challenges you to gird up your loins like a man. Prayer is the action that taps into the omnipotence of God to resolve any crisis in your life. Prayer is the finite getting help from Omnipotence. Prayer is the resource to get hope when times are hopeless. Prayer is the resource to find the wisdom and knowledge to handle your crisis. Prayer is the resource for the fearful one to gain the courage to face their crisis. Prayer is the resource that helps the believer to turn worry into trust. Prayer is the resource that helps the believer to turn doubt into faith.
Let me challenge you to make prayer your only response to all crises. Certainly, your crisis is big, but prayer is the only way to face that crisis and find miraculous victory over it. When crisis comes, let it be said about you that you turned to God and prayed.
