Exodus 25:30
And thou shalt set upon the table shewbread before me alway.
God commanded the priests to set shewbread on the table of shewbread every day; the bread was never to be stale. However, before that priest could set fresh bread on the table, he had to go through the courtyard. In the courtyard was the brazen altar and the laver, which means they had to sacrifice on the brazen altar and wash at the laver before entering the tabernacle to put fresh bread on the table of shewbread. This also means they had to keep the lights of the candlesticks burning so they could see inside of the tabernacle, but it also meant they had to keep the incense at the altar of incense burning so God would accept them. These pieces of furniture were crucial to Israel keeping in favor with God.
Your daily walk with Christ will only be successful if you take the furniture in the tabernacle and apply their meanings to your life. Each piece of furniture means something to the Christian walk, and each meaning will help you to have a great relationship with Christ. Let me share what your daily walk with Christ should entail by using the furniture in the tabernacle.
First, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 teaches that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which means you don't belong to yourself. You have no right as a believer to do with your body what you want because your body belongs to God. To defile your body with worldly living and selfish desires will never be productive for your daily walk with Christ. You owe it to God to live according to His Word.
Second, you must sacrifice yourself daily for God’s use. The first piece of furniture in the courtyard was the brazen altar. You will never live a successful Christian life unless you daily die to self at the brazen altar.
Third, you must cleanse yourself from sin daily at the brazen laver. That brazen laver was the place they washed the dust of the world from their hands and feet. You will never live a successful Christian life without having a brazen laver of 1 John 1:9 in your life. Confessing sin to God daily is a must to keeping a proper fellowship with God.
Fourth, you need to have daily fellowship with God in His Word at the table of shewbread. You cannot walk successfully as a believer on the stale bread from yesterday’s feeding of God’s Word. To have a successful Christian walk, you must get fresh bread at the table of shewbread by having a daily feast in God’s Word. You are robbing yourself of spiritual nourishment for today’s life by not feasting in God’s Word daily.
Fifth, you need a time of prayer at the altar of incense to keep your life in agreement with Christ. It is at the altar of incense where our life finds agreement with God. It is at the altar of incense where our lives change by walking with God in prayer. However much time you spend daily in prayer determines how much your life will be in agreement with God that day.
Sixth, you need to daily allow your life to be a light to the world. The golden candlesticks gave light to the holy place, and your life should be a reflection to the world through personal soul winning. Soul winning will be a natural part of your daily life if you daily visit these five pieces of furniture in your daily walk with God.
