John 1:6
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
What is the hope of a nation? Is the hope of a nation a politician who brings peace to the world? Is the hope of a nation a businessperson who makes a lot of money and helps the poor? Is the whole of a nation a church that is involved in the community? What is the hope of a nation?
I believe the hope of a nation is found in this phrase: There was a man sent from God. The key to this verse being the hope is that the man who was sent from God did what God sent him to do. Imagine God sending John, but John being unwilling to go. Had John not gone to do what God sent him to do, the works that God did through him would not have been done. The way would not have been prepared, Jesus would not have been baptized, the church would not have been started; the hope was that the man whom God sent obeyed and followed what he was sent to do.
My friend, the hope of any nation is still that men do what God sends them to do. God did not place you on this earth just to fill time or waste your time on this earth. God created you for a specific purpose, and He sent you to do that purpose. The fact that you are on this earth shows that God sent you for a specific purpose. Let me share several thoughts that will help you to fulfill that purpose.
First, you must accept that God placed you on this earth for His purpose. Many people have their own purpose for what they want to do, but what you want to do is not the right thing to do, even if what you want to do is not a bad thing. God put you on this earth to fulfill His purpose and not yours. You will miss God's purpose for your life if you refuse to surrender to do His will for your life. Your life will be a waste of time if you refuse to fulfill the purpose for why God sent you to this earth.
Second, you will never fulfill the purpose for what God sent you to do without God. This means a couple of things. First, you must accept Christ as your personal Saviour. Secondly, you must allow God to work through you daily. You cannot do God’s purpose for your life without God working through you. The reason God gave the Holy Spirit to indwell you is so that He can fulfill His purpose through your life.
Third, you must bear witness of Christ in your life if you will fulfill the purpose for which God sent you to this earth to do. You are to be a witness of Christ to every person you come into contact with. If I do not bear witness of Christ, I miss the purpose for what God sent me to do. I am to be a witness of Christ by giving the Gospel to every person God allows to cross my path. You have to understand that there is no mistake that someone crosses your path. God allows people to cross your path so you can bear witness of the Light, Jesus Christ.
You are either keeping the hope alive by fulfilling the purpose for what God has placed you on this earth to do, or you are killing the hope of your nation by refusing to do what God has sent you to do. You have a purpose in life; it is only when you fulfill that purpose that you bring hope to your nation. It does not matter if you feel that you are important or unimportant; it is that you must do what God has sent you to this earth to do that brings hope to your nation. The hope of any nation is for every believer to fulfill God’s purpose for their life by being a witness of Christ to the lost.
