Isaiah 26:3
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
In a world of anxiety, many look to pharmaceutical drugs, alcohol, or vice for peace, when perfect peace only comes from God. You may be able to camouflage the cause of your anxiety or turmoil, but it will never give you the peace you need to make it through life.
God promises perfect peace to those whose mind is stayed on Him. There is something about trusting God that gives the believer the peace they need in times that cause most to have anxiety, worry, and fret. When we look at this promise from God, we see several things God is trying to teach.
First, perfect peace does not mean that God removes the hardship or trial. In fact, the opposite is true. The fact that God says, because he trusteth in thee means that perfect peace is found despite the hardship or trial. In other words, God gives perfect peace in the storm. The perfect peace that God gives is the belief that God will protect you through the storm. The perfect peace God gives assures you that you will be safe despite whatever hardship that life throws at you. The perfect peace God gives believes that God will give you the grace you need to endure whatever may come.
Second, perfect peace means I trust nothing else and no one else but God. You will never fail in life if all you do is trust God. The perfect peace that God gives by keeping your mind focused on Him only comes from trusting a God who has never forsaken His own. The perfect peace this verse is talking about is the peace that the God you are trusting will be with you every step of the way through whatever you may face.
Third, perfect peace believes in the sovereignty of God. The perfect peace of God is the peace that God is in control, and that the performance of His will in your life will be accomplished despite the struggles you face. Perfect peace knows that God is still on His throne, and that He has a plan for what He is allowing you to go through. Perfect peace trusts God’s deity and power that nothing will thwart His plan that He has for your life.
Fourth, perfect peace is a belief that God is using whatever you are going through to make you a better person for Him. Perfect peace has the assurance that the trial is refining you to make the gold come out that you have inside of you. Trials are the refining process for God’s children, and you will never become the tool God desires to use without those fiery trials you must endure. God’s perfect peace gives a calmness in turmoil that you are becoming God’s vision for your life through the storm.
My friend, there is a key to having this perfect peace. The key to having perfect peace is believing that God will keep you. What does the word keep mean in this verse? It means that He will protect you no matter what comes your way. Knowing that God will protect you is what keeps your mind sane and your heart joyful as you go through your trials. Philippians 4:7 promises this when it says, And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Never stop trusting God. Perfect peace comes from knowing one thing: God loves you enough to protect you through any storm you face.
I needed this. It confirmed a scripture I could hear in my spirit while I was showering considering the things going on in my life. Those whose mind is stead on Jesus is kept in perfect peace. When I heard the scripture it brought me out the thoughts of the situations and i just kept thinking on Jesus.
