For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
One thing advertisers like to say is that they have an all-in-one product that can make life more simple in the area the product can be used. You have the all-in-one screwdriver with all the different heads for any screw you need to loosen or tighten. You have the all-in-one socket wrench that has several heads to help you from not having to carry a toolbox with you on small jobs. There are all-in-one cleaning supplies, vitamins, printers, and shampoos, all to help simplify whatever you are doing.
However, there is only one all-in-One when it comes to life: Jesus Christ. The verse above tells us that Christ shall be called, Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. God’s Word is teaching us that Christ is our all-in-One need for life. This verse is teaching that no matter what you face in life, you can find your answer in Christ. Let me show what these names mean to you in your life.
First, Christ is Wonderful. This means He is the miracle-working God. Only Christ can show wonders through our lives. When you need a miracle, Christ is the One who can give that miracle. When you desire to see the miraculous work in your life, you need to turn to none other than Christ. He alone can do greater and mightier things in and through your life. Whatever miracle you need today, Christ is the One who can make that miracle happen in your life.
Second, Christ is Counsellor. In other words, Christ is the source of all wisdom. Do you need wisdom in making decisions? Go to Christ, for He alone has all the wisdom needed to help you make the right decisions. To go to anyone else other than Christ to find an answer to your decision needs is going to the wrong source for wisdom. Christ alone is your need for wisdom and He will counsel you if you will but ask Him.
Third, Christ is the mighty God. In other words, Christ is victorious over all. When facing battles that are greater than your abilities, you need to turn to none other than Christ. He is your victory; in Him alone will you find the resources you need to live a victorious life. You can fight your battles alone and either lose or never gain victory, or you can go to the mighty God and find He alone has the power to help you to win your battles in life.
Fourth, Christ is the everlasting Father. In other words, Christ is your answer to loneliness. You may feel that your family has let you down, but you have an everlasting Father who will always be the family you need to make you feel like you belong. If everyone forsakes you, you can be assured that Christ will never leave thee nor forsake thee because He is called the everlasting Father.
Fifth, Christ is the Prince of Peace. In other words, you will only find the peace for which you are searching for in life in Christ. All other sources of peace will fail, but Christ gives the peace that passes all understanding. He alone can calm any inner turmoil you face and replace that turmoil with peace.
My friend, Christ is your all-in-One need for life. Place your life in His hands, and you will find there is no need that He cannot supply.
