1 Thessalonians 1:5

For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

The main responsibility of every believer is to give the Gospel to the lost. Though many minimize this responsibility, we must remember that the purpose for Christ coming to earth was to seek and to save the lost. Before Christ ascended to Heaven, the last words to His disciples and the church that He started was to get the Gospel to the world.

For some reason, it seems this present generation has lost its focus and purpose. Many churches do very little to get the Gospel to the lost. Many churches are filled with conferences and getaways, but you find very few pastors and believers who are avidly giving the Gospel to the lost. The average church only gives the Gospel to those who visit their church, and the sad part is that very few people visit these churches, which means these churches rarely give out the Gospel. God not only expects you to deliver His Gospel to the lost, but He commands you to do it. Now, when we deliver the Gospel, there are several ways God teaches us to deliver it.

First, deliver the Gospel by giving out God’s Word. The power in the Gospel is in the power of God’s Word. Never give out the Gospel without reading or quoting God’s Word. God’s Word will take the Gospel of Christ and become like a piece of dynamite in the heart of the lost. Certainly, you should tell people that Christ died to pay for their sins, but use God’s Word as you deliver this Gospel because the power of the Gospel is always in the power of God’s Word.

Second, deliver the Gospel in power. You need the power of the Holy Ghost on your life as you deliver the Gospel. Before you go and talk to someone about the Gospel, stop and ask the Holy Ghost to empower you as you give out the Gospel. The Holy Ghost will do a work on the heart of the lost as you speak to their ears. It is hard for the lost to resist the power of the Gospel being given in the power of the Holy Ghost.

Third, deliver the Gospel in boldness. Paul said in 1 Thessalonians 2:2 that he was bold to speak the Gospel to them. Don't be timid when you give the Gospel. God gives you the authority to give the Gospel; therefore, you should be bold as you give it. Don't worry with their status in society or the religion the person may practice; understand that you are the authority because God gives it to you. Be bold when you give the Gospel!

Fourth, deliver the Gospel plainly. Don't overcomplicate the Gospel. Part of the power of the Gospel is in its simplicity. If you overcomplicate the Gospel, you are likely adding something to the Gospel that has nothing to do with it. The simplicity of the Gospel is what makes it easy for ANY person to understand. Don't let religion cause you to overcomplicate what God made simple.

Fifth, deliver the Gospel wisely. Paul said he was gentle among them as he gave the Gospel. He understood what they needed to hear to get saved, and he delivered the Gospel to them in a manner they could understand. If you give the Gospel and apply it to the vocation of the person you are giving it to, it will make it very understandable for the person, and it will help them to understand how foolish it would be to reject it.
