Numbers 10:29
And Moses said unto Hobab, the son of Raguel the Midianite, Moses' father in law, We are journeying unto the place of which the LORD said, I will give it you: come thou with us, and we will do thee good: for the LORD hath spoken good concerning Israel.
The mindset of Moses was, come with me. Moses said to his brother-in-law, we are journeying unto the place of which the LORD said, I will give it you: come thou with us. Moses looked for a better country than where he presently abode, and he invited all to come with him. He invited his father-in-law earlier, but then he was also concerned about his brother-in-law.
What a great mindset for believers to have! Every believer ought to keep in mind that we are journeying to a place, a place where God dwells. Where is this place? John 14:2-3 tells us: In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. This place where we are journeying to is called Heaven. We are not journeying to a place in this world, but we are on a journey to Heaven, the place where God abides, sin is not present, pain is gone, and death is not welcome, and we should invite all to come. Let me share a few thoughts about journeying to God’s place.
First, it is the decent thing to do to invite all to journey with you to Heaven. Why anyone would not invite others to come with them on this journey to Heaven is beyond my imagination. We should want everyone to come with us: family, friends, neighbors, and anyone we come into contact with. If you truly believe that Heaven is real, it should stir your heart to invite all to come with you, because decent people invite others to go to a better place, the place called Heaven.
Second, you ought to prepare as if you are going to a better place. Because we are pilgrims journeying through this world, we ought to live like we are going to a better place. Oh, our lifestyles should constantly become closer to the place where we are journeying. Nobody will want to come with me on the journey to Heaven if I am living like the world. People will come with you on the journey to Heaven if your life looks more enticing than the life which the world lives.
Third, your spirit ought to represent Heaven’s spirit. What is Heaven’s spirit? Heaven is a place of joy, and God’s people ought to live joyful lives so others would want to come join us on this journey. Nobody wants to be around a grump, for they are around grumpy people all day. If your spirit represents Heaven’s spirit despite the hardships you face, your spirit will cause others to want what you have. Putting a smile on your face instead of a frown is a choice. Every believer has something to smile about, and if the only thing they have to smile about is that they are saved, that is the greatest reason to have a smile.
Fourth, your power ought to represent the power of the God of Heaven. Oh, God gives the believer the power of the Holy Spirit, and His power ought to be evident in your life. This journey we are on is a faith journey, and it will only be successful if we have God’s power. My friend, when people see God working miraculously through your life, the life of faith, they will want to be part of the life that produces miracles.
